This is very easy

1. Download the IPS file of the hack you want to play, and unzip it.

Other n64 emulators give you an option to have 4mb or 8mb of emulated memory, the 8mb option effectively emulates the memory expansion pack thing and is required by some games & rom hacks. OP, I’d ask on retroNX, maybe there’s some config file you can control it in, idk. To the guy saying go to whatever website to get the roms individually is a dummy, just click on zip, brings up the whole list to download each one. 2. Download an IPS Patcher here. We'll use Lunar IPS for this example. Unzip it into a folder where you won't lose it.

3. Download a CLEAN ROM. That means, a ROM in it's normal form, and hasn't been tampered with so far. If the hack is of Super Mario Bros 1, find a Super Mario Bros 1 ROM. Zophar does not provide roms, use Google to find them. For example, search for 'Super Mario Bros ROM'. Unzip it into a folder where you won't lose it.

4. Download an emulator. If the hack is of Super Mario Bros 1, Download an NES emulator here. You can find emulators for other consoles on that list as well. Unzip it into a folder where you won't lose it.

5. Double click on Lunar IPS.exe, click 'Apply Patch'.

6. Select the IPS file that you downloaded.

7. Afterwards, it will ask you to select a ROM. Select the ROM that the hack is based off of. If you have an IPS of a Super Mario Bros. 1 hack, then find the Super Mario Bros 1 ROM, and double click it.

8. Find your emulator, and double click it.

RomRom

9. Go under 'File', then 'Open', and look for the ROM. If you applied it correctly, the game should run fine.

Emulators

Project 64For Windows XP or later
One of the most popular emulators for playing Super Mario 64 hacks, as well as other Nintendo 64 games. Used by most hack gamers, and is perfect if you're new to this.

Mupen64For Windows, MacOSX, Linux, FreeBSD, QNX and BeOS
One of the most popular emulators, mainly because of its multiplatform ability, and the fact that it's completely open-source. A stable release hasn't been released since 2005, but this emulator has been ported to a multiple number of systems mainly because of its stability and open-source release. The project is rumored to be somehow outdated, the newer versions is known as Mupen64Plus.

Mupen64PlusFor Windows, Linux, Ubuntu and Mac OSX
Mupen64Plus is a rewritten version of Mupen64 by the Mupen64 Google Group. It's rebuilt with larger support for CPU's, graphics cards, and better support for operating systems.

Mupen64 AEFor Android
Mupen64Plus rewritten for Android by Paul Lamb. The emulator is available in the Google Play store. The app has one free edition, and one donators edition for $0.99, however, the free edition has no limitations, the donators edition is made solely to support coders.

BizHawkFor Windows and Mac
BizHawk is a very stable emulator supporting NES, SNES GameBoy, Nintendo 64, Atari, Sega and much more. It was mainly built for TASVideos.org, and has a ton of tools for making Tool-Assisted speedruns included, although it's still a very good and popular emulator for normal gaming. No problems reported with games from our website. The emulator has versions for both Windows and Mac. All usable plugins are coded into the emulator.

Mupen64++For Windows
Mupen64++ (aka Mupen64k) is the emulator for online play woring with the most games. The emulator has support for peer-to-peer online play with Kaillera. Mupen64++ always uses the game save data from the host, and synchronizes it with everyone else playing.

Project 64kFor Windows and WineHQ
The most popular emulator for online play, with Kaillera support, a NetPlay system allowing people to play online without a server (Peer-to-Peer). You may use this to play online with your friends from all over the world, but the closer the better.

1964For Windows
1964 is a Nintendo 64 Emulator for Microsoft Windows, written in C/C++ and released as free software. It is one of the oldest and most popular N64 emulators, supporting many commercial N64 games

Nemu64For Windows
Nemu64 is one of the oldest Nintendo 64 emulators in existance. For a long time it was also nearly unplayable due to being to slow for most PCs to run. Fortunately as both Nemu64 and the development of faster multi-Ghz CPU's progressed, Nemu64 can be played without much slowdown.

UltraHLEFor Windows
January 28, 1999 is a day which wrote emulation history. UltraHLE was released, the first succesful Nintendo 64 emulator. What many thought of as impossible was achieved by UltraHLE as the first (and only) release was able to properly play many popular titles, including Super Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

SupraHLEFor Windows
Hacked version of UltraHLE which supports more features and games.

UltraHLE 2064For Windows
UltraHLE 2064 is not just a hack of UltraHLE but a new version based on it's source code. If you want a completely new emulator then it's what you want. Though the original team is not handling the project the people in charge of it are really tallended and their work can be trusted.

DaedalusFor Windows
Multi platform emulator that became more well know when it's graphics code became a plugin!

ApolloFor Windows
Apollo has been discontinued. It's source code is available at the official page.

TR64For Windows
Nintendo 64 emulator by the creators of TRWin.

TRWinFor Windows
This emulator lags behind the rest, but you never know what might happen.

CornFor Windows
Very fast Nintendo 64 emulator, even on very slow systems. Unfortunately it runs very few games.

MegaN64For Android
MegaN64 is a modified version of the Open Source project Mupen64+, which is licensed by GNU GPL v3. Modifications include performance enhancements for specific Phone Models such as the Nexus 4 and the Galaxy S4 and small UI improvements.

N64oidFor Android
Old emulator, no official download, taken down from play store for being 'not upto scratch'

SixtyForceFor Mac
sixtyforce is an emulator that runs Nintendo 64 games. It does this by dynamically translating the code that a Nintendo 64 uses into something your Mac understands. Nearly every part of a Nintendo 64 has been painstakingly recreated entirely out of software to pull off such an amazing feat. Download sixtyforce and try it yourself!
