How to connect Apple CarPlay on Honda CR-V Posted on August 3, 2020 December 17, 2020 by Kostis Floros Connecting an Apple CarPlay compatible iPhone to the display audio lets you enjoy many of the iPhones functions through the vehicles touchscreen without having to touch the iPhone.
- Honda has recently released a new software update for the 2019 Accord that brings plenty of improvements, including some aimed at the connection glitches that owners reported when running CarPlay.
- 2015 Honda CRV with Android Auto/Carplay? Anyone know of tricks or updates to get them to play nice? I read something like an update to the CRV software may come out but never saw anything.
- And to answer your question, it seems to be the case that you can copy this to a USB drive and install it to the head unit on a 2015-2016 Honda CR-V EX and EX-L model and get CarPlay. I would be very curious to hear from others how well it runs, and whether or not there's a download for models with Navigation, but I may try the installation on.
I wish it was that simple. Despite all the promo photos that show the dashboard of a 2015 Honda Civic, there is no CarPlay for that model, and it is likely that there never will be. Your only real hope is that someone leaks the radio firmware used in the testing phase on that radio device.
Install Apple Carplay Honda Crv 2015
I don't think it is up to Apple to release the software, it is up to Honda, as they make the cars, and the radios are made for them by a supplier (not sure who made this one.)
It really *****, I saw the photos and assumed my car had it before I bought it, and did not notice that it was not part of the 2015 Honda Civic until after I bought it. It is my fault for not researching.

Connecting an Apple CarPlay compatible iPhone to the display audio lets you enjoy many of the iPhones functions through the vehicles touchscreen without having to touch the iPhone.
First make sure your compatible iPhone has the latest software update, plus it’s critical that the cable you use is a genuine Apple cable and that it’s not worn or damaged. If you ever have problems connecting, have unexpected disconnects or receive “device not found” or “device not compatible” messages, it’s most likely due to an off-brand or damaged cable.
- Using the proper cable, plug the iPhone’s USB connector into the USB smartphone audio interface with the smart phone icon, located at the front end of the center console.
- After connecting the iPhone, go to the display audio home screen. When you first use Apple CarPlay a consent screen will appear before enabling CarPlay. After agreeing to the terms and conditions, select Enable Once, Always Enable or Cancel on the display audio.
- When enabled, an Apple CarPlay icon will now appear on home screen. Touch the icon to display the menu of apps.
- To return to the display audio home screen, touch the Honda icon.
Using Siri with Apple CarPlay
- The easiest way to use the apps on your iPhone is through Siri Apple’s voice recognition feature. To engage Siri, press and hold the talk button on the steering wheel until the system responds.
- You can now ask Siri to read your messages and respond to them by voice.
- You can use the Apple maps function to get directions. Note that models with the Honda satellite-linked navigation system can only use one system at a time.
- You can also ask Siri to place phone calls, play songs, describe the weather forecast and even what movies are playing nearby.
Deleting phone history from Apple CarPlay
Follow these simple steps to delete phones from the Apple CarPlay history.
